Boot up: NSA email!, iPhone v NFC, patents v podcasters,

Harder to find in the US. Photograph: user HLundgaard, Wikipedia/Wikipedia Creative Commons licenseWith 40% of the US smartphone market, Apple commands a large lead over other handset makers, according to Nielsen data. Its mobile operating system and app store are influential among application developers."It's definitely troublesome for any developer looking to support NFC that it is not in the iPhone," said Jordan McKee, an analyst with researcher Yankee Group. "It's not going to reach massive scale without Apple adopting NFC."
Though nearly every other major smartphone maker has models with NFC capability, a recent Yankee Group survey found that just 18% of US consumers have such handsets, said McKee.
NFC has been slow to catch on in part because it isn't any easier than a credit-card swipe, and because not enough stores accept the technology. According to Gartner analyst Mark Hung, fewer than 100,000 NFC-enabled readers are in use in the US, which compares with near-ubiquity for traditional credit-card readers.
Meanwhile, early NFC adopters like BlackBerry and Nokia have seen their handset sales decline. An effort by Google to create a digital wallet linked to NFC chips in some Sprint phones has slowed as other carriers favour their own NFC joint venture called Isis, which is only available in two US cities.source<< http://www.theguardian.com

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE History

UEFA Champions League is one of the most famous Tournaments of the world. UEFA Champions League has become the most focused tournament in the Football history after Fifa World Cup.
UEFA Champions League that used to be known as the European Champions Cup. UEFA Champions League Tournament first started in 1956 and it became the most important tournament in the world club football. The Tournament quickly got authority.
The representatives from 15 top clubs arrived to the grand meeting for decision and the decision was made to start the first tournament in 1955/56. Fifa supported that idea.
The decision was that the champions of the countries and the last year cup winner would come in the UEFA Champions League tournament as a contestant team. They plan to play the whole tournament on the Olympic system playing the home and guest matches and the tournament winner would be called by the total differences of goals. Why We Need An Indian Miss America

Nina Davuluri became the first Indian American to win the Miss America title on Sunday. The 24-year-old University of Michigan graduate performed a Bollywood fusion dance for the talent round.Unsurprisingly, detractors flocked to Twitter after the win, where Davuluri was (wrongly) identified as an Arab, terrorist, and even Chinese. Despite the maelstrom of negative chatter, the young woman has paved the way for challenging discussions on race, culture and beauty in America and globally. Here’s why America needed an Indian Miss America

1.) Her victory forces America to examine what it means to be American. Davuluri is American-born and educated. While her Indian cultural heritage is an important part of her identity, being American is even more so. For a nation of immigrants, built upon a land of opportunity, she epitomizes what “Brand U.S.A.” has become so famous for worldwide; a meritocratic society. It’s unfortunate she had to be the target in this conversation, but the fact is the definition of what it is to be American is ever-evolving.

2.) She challenges what it means to be Indian American. Indian Americans, like many other first generation Americans, face an ever-present cultural conflict. Indians have lived in America for generations. Through the years several stereotypes have emerged on what being Indian American means – nerds, techies, doctors, motel and 7/11 owners, to name a few. Even in the entertainment industry, Mindy Kaling’s “The Mindy Project” focuses on her being a doctor, while Kunal Nayyar in “The Big Bang Theory” is a science geek. Davuluri’s victory in a beauty pageant, challenges perceptions that Indians are only geeky, or only small business owners. Indeed, the uproar against her win is interesting – I wouldn’t be writing this if she had won a Spelling Bee or Mathematics competition.
